Friday Nights are Designed for Fashion Shows
The Fashion and Textile Department of NMMU put on The Collective Free Creative Fashion Show, which was held on Friday evening, 02 October 2015. The show was a means for the students that form part of the department to showcase their talent and skills in a creative and relaxed manner.
According to Raighaanah Abrahams, third year fashion student and one of the logistical organizers for the Free Creative, the event differed from other fashions shows held at the university in that this particular event aimed to create conceptual design as opposed to normal wearable clothing.
The annual event is part of one of four events that form what is known as the Collective at NMMU SOMAD School. It includes the Model Hunt, which took place in late September at the Goldfield Auditorium, the Free Creative fashion show, which recently took place, as well as the Collective Applied Design Exhibition, which is said to take place mid-October and lastly the Collective Graduate Fashion Show, which will take place on the last Friday of the month, 30 October 2015.
