Launched on Monday 31 August, the NMMU Business School is now ranked in the top 3% worldwide. The Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) awarded the “4 Green Star Design rating.”

The business school will be implementing green principles into all programs. These include paperless programs and occupancy sensors which control the ventilation, heating and air-conditioning. Occupancy sensors also control the lighting and solar panels fitted to the roof reduces demand on the grid.

Rainwater will also be used for the toilet systems as well as irrigation for plants around the building. A live data feed was also installed to allow users to be aware of the water and energy usage.

The building boasts a 137 seat auditorium, a computer lab, videoconferencing facilities and a trendy café.
